May & June Events & Festivals

  • Suffolk Farmers Market Season Opening Celebration starts May 4 at the Suffolk Visitor Center Pavilion. Shop from local vendors, artisans and farmers for fresh produce, farm fresh meats, jams, plants, candles, home décor, and more. The regular market hours take place every Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. through Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024.
  • Bridge & Games Luncheon returns May 6 at the Suffolk Art Gallery. Tickets are $25 per person/$100 for a table of 4 and include a day of card games, luncheon, beverages, and snacks. Funds raised for this event will support the children’s summer educational programs sponsored by Suffolk Art League and held at the Gallery.
  • Swing by Holland Village Ball Field 3 for the annual Holland Ruritan Club’s Custom Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show May 11. Admission is free and the event will feature vendors, entertainment, and fun for the whole family.
  • The American Girl Program returns to Riddick’s Folley House Museum May 18 featuring Tenney Grant, an aspiring singer and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. There will be 2 sittings: 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Space is limited (20 girls per sitting) and reservations are required 14 days before the event. Donations welcome. Ages 6-12 are welcome; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call 757-934-0822 or email riddicksfolly@verizon.net to secure your spot.
  • A new art exhibit is coming to Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Beginning June 6 through July 13, the Glasswater Exhibition will be on display and will feature artwork by the talented artists from the Elizabeth River Artists Association. The exhibition is free and open to the public Tuesday – Saturdays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Bring the family to Saturday Cinema to enjoy kid-friendly outdoor movies at downtown’s Festival Park and Bennett’s Creek Park.  Don’t forget to pack your blankets and lawn chairs for an unforgettable movie night under the stars. Food and vendor items will be available for purchase.

​Live Music & Local Entertainment in Suffolk, Virginia

Country music lovers will want to check out The Hit Men of Country Concert May 18 at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts. Enjoy live music from talented musicians who have toured, performed and recorded with some of country’s mega hit stars like Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Travis Tritt, Lee Greenwood, and Wynonna. Or, see what’s on tap and check out local entertainment at Decent People Taproom.

Hear live performances from local and regional bands during the TGIF Summer Concert Series. June’s concerts will take place at Suffolk’s new Downtown Festival Park located at 215 W. Washington St. Before the show, visit local eateries and shops or stop by the Nansemond Brewing Station for a craft beverage.
