Join Suffolk Tourism, in partnership with outdoor outfitter, Nature’s Calling, for two nature-themed programs at the Suffolk Visitor Center Pavilion. Mark your calendar for “Plants of the Great Dismal Swamp” on Saturday, April 6, 2019 and the popular “Snakes: Fact or Fiction” on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Both hour-long programs begin at 10am and are free and open to the public. Programs will be held outdoors—please dress accordingly. The Suffolk Visitor Center Pavilion is located at 524 North Main Street in downtown Suffolk.
• Plants of the Great Dismal Swamp will address how to identify certain trees, native plants and their uses, the benefits of growing native plants, wildlife uses and environmental benefits.
• Snakes: Fact or Fiction will feature the identification, habitat, the beneifts and dispelling myths of snakes. Live snakes will be available for observation. Reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling 757.514.4130 or emailing VisitSuffolk@suffolkva.us. Program participants will receive a voucher redeemable for a discount on one of Suffolk Tourism’s 2019 Great Dismal Swamp guided tours.
