Join us for a fun morning on the river cleaning up the wetlands. We will be removing litter and debris from the downtown part of the Nansemond River. Must supply own watercraft, but litter grabbers and bags will be provided. Don't have a boat? No worries -- you can help on land, cleaning up litter before it makes it to the river. Hope you can make it!

This Juried Exhibition is open to all visual artists working in any medium. The exhibition typically features approximately 100 works of art by artists from the Hampton Roads region and beyond. Over $2,400 in awards will be given, including a $500 First Prize and the opportunity for a one-person exhibit at the Suffolk Art Gallery in 2019. The juror will be Dr. Cole Welter, Graduate Program Director, Professor of Art, Painting and Drawing, at James Madison University.

Bring your little goblins and ghouls to the Seaboard Station Railroad Museum on Saturday, October 27, 2018, for Touch a Truck, Train & Trick or Treat! The event begins at 11am and ends at 2pm, rain or shine. Enjoy food, candy, games, trucks, trains and more! Children can see, touch, and explore their favorite big trucks and vehicles. It is a one-day interactive event that also gives children the opportunity to meet the men and women that serve, protect and build our community. Vehicles on display include construction trucks, emergency vehicles, tractor trailers, and utility trucks. BE SURE TO WEAR YOUR COSTUMES AND BRING YOUR OWN TRICK-OR-TREAT BAGS! Tickets are $5 each or 4 for $15.

See Suffolk through the eyes of years gone by.
Suffolk’s rich heritage dates back to the early 17th century, when Captain John Smith first encountered the Nansemond Indians on the Nansemond River. Even now, you can trace Suffolk’s legacy through our historic homes and neighborhoods, churches and Virginia Civil War Trails. Guided by a Suffolk historian, you meet the people and places that made Suffolk the city it is today. Highlights of this windshield tour include Cedar Hill Cemetery, Riddick’s Folly House Museum, Constant’s Wharf, College Court and Suffolk’s Historic Lakeside neighborhood.

Dress up as a ZOMBIE and join us at Morgan Memorial Library to receive litter equipment. We will be cleaning up the downtown area around the library dressed as ZOMBIES. It will be a lot of fun and we will be giving out prizes for best ZOMBIE dress.

Join Suffolk Tourism for a FREE Family Movie Night, as we show the hilarious animated film, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. There will also be crafts for the children, beginning at 6 p.m. Seating is also available, but chairs, blankets and jackets are also encouraged as to make it an even more comfortable evening under the stars!
