Join the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts as they welcome the Blackwater Artists League. The exhibit will be on display from May 13 to June 25, 2021. The Blackwater Artists League is an organization of artists of all media who get together each week to paint and sketch. The only requirement is an interest in art. Members come from throughout the area: Windsor, Suffolk, Franklin, and North Carolina. There are usually eight to twelve members who meet in Courtland at the art house, next to Rawls Museum. Established in 1984, the artists were primarily watercolorists; they have since evolved, now working not only in watercolor but also in oil and cold wax, acrylic, mixed media and pastel. On occasion they work en plein air at various locations. Dues are collected, which go to support youth art and charities.
Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is located at 110 W. Finney Avenue in the heart of downtown Suffolk. The galleries are open Tuesday-Saturday, 11am to 4pm. For more information, please contact Jester's Gallery Shop at 757.925.1800.
